I went fishing the other day with a friend of mine here on base, we were using corn for bait and were fishing as the sun went down. i know that there are carp in there because i have caught a few...didnt have my camera with me then or i would have posted them too. but i did catch 3 of these guys. first time i pulled one out of the water i did a, "what the heck is that??!" kind of thing. wondering if someone out there can tell me the name of it. it didnt seem to have the dorsal spine that most cats have.

hope you enjoy a few new wildlife pics from over there

Looks like either a Clarias cat or a Fossil cat. The latter is vemonous so definitely be careful with those guys.

Careful with those, I think it might be a stinging catfish. http://www.thejump.net/id/stinging-catfish.htm just don't get stuck by em if it is! By the way thank you for your service.

well i got lightly grazed by the tip of the pectoral fin when i took him off of the hook and it did sting for a minute but then it went away, didnt seem much worse than a regular poke by any other cat but i will be more careful for sure next time now that it has been brought up to be a possibility. it does look similar to the stinging catfish. Thank you very much. this site has gotten be through a long tour.
