we need some info 
. for instance, tank size, tankmates, water quality. If everything is in check I recommend adding a drop of crushed garlic to his food, he'll smell it and won't be able to resist.

false dude. LFS near me had 22 inchers that could take down large comets, dozens at a time.

As far as large ones eating feeders, some individual Pacu and Carp readily eat feeders too.

For the OP's question about feeding - mine didn't eat for almost two weeks after I got him. Then one day he just decided he was hungry again. I feed him mostly Hikari sinking wafers, plus Massivore pellets and shrimp pellets. He eats like a pig!
