thats a good question
can any one give me info on these guys i just bought two today:D

this is probably the wrong forum for it, as they are not cold water fish

anyhow, that being said, they are technically a catfish, although they are very active unlike most cats. thats why they will need a big tank, and tankmates who dont mind their constant movement
i have had luck getting them to eat just about anything.
i do not know the growth rate, but i have seen them as big as 30" and they get FAT, not just long like some cats. i think it just depends on the tank size and how often you feed them as to how quickly they grow.
water parameters are the same as any tropical fish

wow had no idea they get as big as my brother FAT

They like the company of other irridescent shakrs, and have very bad vision. They get startled and injure themselves on sharp decorations.

When they are older they turn deep blue and silver and get slit eyes. Like a shark. They seem to need more vegetation than other fish, but aren't picky. Most pet stores say 8 inches max but one foot is the minimum, and that is if it is stunted. Real monsters indeed.

Always do research before you buy a fish, not after.

Probably the best fish advice I've ever heard.

I'm excited to see how your fish grow though.

Yea, they get big. 4 feet might be a stretch but I've seen them 2.5 plus in public aquaria. How big is your tank? Always do research before you buy a fish, not after.

x3 on the words of wisdom
