I bought 3 3" iridescent sharks a couple weeks ago and put them in a 10 gallon tank so they can grow a little (i will eventually put them in my 65) but they keep swimming in a corner like they are trying to get out. Why is that?
Sounds like they're spooked in your quarantine tank. I have two foot long iridescent sharks that get spooked easily in a 125 GAL. Double check your water parameters.
they'll have to get use to their surroundings, like my baby ID's stopped after 1 and a half days of doing laps up and down the tank. Plants help them, so they know there is a barrier, which is better than when there is only glass.
Definitely want to avoid sudden/jerky movements while you are looking at your ID's or even just close by your tank. Even after they have adjusted to their new surroundings they will still go nuts if they are spooked. Ive got a 3inch ID shark and a 2.5inch albino ID shark! I have noticed my albino is not spooked close to as easily as my regular ID. He also seems much more layed back.. Im not sure if this goes for all albino ID's though! Anyone know?
kept three of this for 12 years, they are active swimmers and get startled easily by sudden movement, they usually get injuries on the tip of their mouth when they smash into the glass that would sometimes permanently scar.
My ID's don't seem to be active swimmers.. I think they are more active in the evening. During the day they enjoy just kind of hovering or swimming in one spot.. Like in the middle of my clay pot, or in my gravel covered pvc tunnel.
