saw a beautiful pair in the pet store today while I was buing food, but know nothing about them, the store owner said they only get 18-20 inches, so I decided to look them up when I got home... they get much much larger than 20 inches. I was hoping he was right, but sadly, he wasn't. always skeptical of lfs advice

yup. I'm not shark expert but what the owner said was a typical "x-large" "adult" sized shark sold in pet stores. in captive aquariums they reach to around 2 feet or so (larger usually). bit in the wild they reach more than 4 feet!!!!!!!!!

actually it depends on the different species. some species stay smaller than others.

they were both about 12 inches, I wanted them, but not sure how they'd work out in my 125 or with my gar, i don't want something that will outgrow the 125 in less than a year, I want a bigger tank, but in a year or so

but still, a 125 gallon is too small for 2 large sharks. These iridesent sharks are "classified" as "tank busters."
