Took a quick shot of my Iridescent (still wonder why they would be labeled as a shark) and thought I should post it up. I've had him for about 1 yr & a half. Unfortunately he was in an extremely undersized tank before due to noobish knowledge of fish keeping. Typical walk into LFS and buy a beginner tank setup and an eye catching fish w/o knowing what you're actually getting. Luckily that changed and now he's in a proper setting along with his monster tank mates :) Has definitely been getting bigger since placed in upgraded tank. So glad I actually decided to learn about proper fish keeping and becoming a fellow MFK'er :D
I'd say he's about 5.5"-6" & loves to eat. Eats about anything I throw in there (flakes, prepared foods, feeders, live shrimp, algae wafers & massivore pellets)
Here he is:

can reach 2'+ pretty easily
MOST people that own them have them in 55gal
or smaller due to above mentioned LFS policy..
They sell them at 4" and it's hard to believe
but I had two outgrow my 120gal

Yea they definitely won't stay small but they don't exactly grow at the rate RTC's & TSN's do. They are monster's or at least will become so keep that into consideration. That all depends on their environment and tank their in. They need lots of space. These cats are very, I repeat, VERY active swimmers! They will not stop and they do get spooked very easily as well which can be a bad thing. They have a tendency to just bolt through the water when startled or frightened and cause serious injuries to themselves mainly from smashing into the wall inside the tank. They also don't do as well by themselves. They like to be in schools so it's usually good to have at least a pair to keep them happy.

thats cool thank you i have a empty 180 now my rtc has out grown it that should do for a good bit of time and whos its cousin

I have two that I purchased from petsmart/petco One of the two idiot chains.. Knowing they'd grow large I placed them (Since babys) in my 150 gallon tank.. Im not sure that they are thriving though? They are very active and the water chemistry is Spot on, But They dont seem to be getting larger. They have obviously grown since their purchase a few months ago but not by much, also have changed from silver to black with silver stripes and now are becoming more predominantly black. They are maybe 4-5 inches long. Going straight into a 150 they should be getting large by now right?
