Is it really nessesary to put iron and other liquid fertilizers in the tank? If so, what are some good products to use?

Please read the stickies first. This is a good starting place

You have to be more specific as well. You are not giving any information that will make it remotely possible to answer your question. What kind of plants do you have? How many plants do you have? How large are the plants? Do you have co2? What kind of live stock do you have? How big are the fish? How many of each fish do you have? Do you have a plante substrate? What are the params of your tap water? How much lighting do you have? What type of lighting is it?

depends on:

1 how heavily planted
2 what specie of plants
3 CO2 injection or not
4 type and amount of lighting

Get back with me on those, and I can give you more info

1. ok. I have a 75g tank. two plants. (8 inches tall)
2. Amazon sword
3. No C02 injection, but as soon as I get a pepsi bottle Ill have a DIY one.
4. Stock regular florescent.

For swords all you need is root tabs. Water column ferts are going to do very little for these plants. I wouldn't worry about co2 at all for you tank, but you may want to think of getting lighting to 2wpg for better growth. Check the link provided above for more info about lighting.
