I have these rocks from the Jemez mountains an it looks like they have veins of iron oxide or some other rust looking material. SO is Iron oxide Ok with fish. ?

"Laterite" is a clay containing high concentrations of ferric oxide and aluminum. It is frequently added to aquariums to sequester nutrients and stimulate plant growth. All of Brazil, and hence, the Amazon basin, sits on a layer of laterite. Furthermore, PhosBan and the corresponding Magnavore product are ferric oxide hydroxide. So, to answer your question.....iron oxide is not necessarilly harmful to fish.
