Irridescent Sharks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
they get like 3 feet long, are very skitish and need a huge tank because they always freak out and ram into the tank, occupy all ranges of the tank. think like 1500g tank.

you're looking at about 4' long and over a hundred pounds being possible. min tank size is going to be 12'x4'x4' they are a schooling fish so you need a group and they are very skittish, if you spook one expect tit to go flying into the other side of the tank. like most larger cats they will joyfully eat smaller fish and they've got pretty big mouths. that being said they are my favorite catfish because they are active, diurnal and don't hide but good luck housing them responsibly.

limas can hit 20", pretty big for most people but nothing compared to the other shovelnose sp. rtc, rtcxtsn, IR sharks, piraiba(especially piraiba, 8' long) etc

Pangasius Hypothalmus is "known to reach 4 ft" in the wild. I'd challenge anyone here to show me a specimen over 2ft in the aquaria. But that aside...it is still a very active and very skittish fish...not a good aquarium resident.

i'm pretty sure a couple of guys on here had some that were 3'+ there is no reason that a properly cared for IR shouldn't at least get close to the max wild size, same with every other fish.
