so i have had this irwini for about 5 months
i got him from a guy who got it as a baby and grew it to about 8" or so. he had it in a 180, and i put it in my 180
needless to say the thing almost NEVER moves, and he hasn't grown at all!
every night i throw hikari sinking pellets into the tank for them to eat (also a large pleco and a CK that eat from the bottom)

he hasn't died, so i know he must be eating .... but whats up with him?
pics can be found here http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=156159&highlight=irwini

any help would be appreciated

They don't grow very fast at all...I rarely see mine and I have had him for a year or so..

He eats, he's healthy and he's happy..

They grow pretty quick as a juvenile, after that point, they grow about 1-2" a year...(mine grew 1.5" in a year)

I agree with flamenco, they grow very slowly. You could try some different foods. Mine are about that size and they love live blackworms. Also, you can arrange caves by leaning driftwood or something on the front of the tank. I have a huge cave right in front so they always hide out right where I can see them.
