I'm not new to fish, but I'm new to stingrays. I've recently inhereted a 125 gal tank. (6' x 1.5' x 2') I've been considering building a ray tank. I'm committed to thoroughly research before starting.

My LFS has an enthusiast employee who seems very experienced. He focuses on SA Cichlid tanks, and also has some experience with rays. He has suggested my tank size should be fine, and that a ray would not outgrow the tank for at least 10 years.

I have seen advice here that I should not even consider a ray tank with a width less than 2'. If I don't have a near-term option of a larger tank, should I give up the idea of a ray tank?

short answer..NO WAY..
wayyy to small

If you start off with 4-5 inch pups then you should be good for a couple of years as long as you have a good sized filtration system.
