I have wanted a FH for awhile now,and have a few questions.
Is a 75 big enough for a single,or would a 90 be best. If/when I get one,I do not plan on keeping anything else with it.
I have seen some in a LFS,all pretty small, 3 or 4",some have decent coloring, but non have a KOK. Is it possible to get one and grow out the KOK and improve the coloring? They usually sell them for around $100,is that too much for a small FH? Or would I be better off buying one off Aquabid that already has great coloring and a KOK? I have seen some nice looking ones there for around $150,which seems reasonable to me.

yes a 75 is big enough. Check flowerhornsfrombeyond.com for a good deal. Julie sels excellent stock

Seems fine to me

yeah and a 91gallon is better than a 90 but a 75 is the same footprint as a 90 so you'll be fine. Like forbinkle said flowerhorns from beyond is the best place to get flowerhorns on a budget but for the most part it's just fry. If you want something a little bigger try www.aquabid.com and then have your fish trans shipped to Julie @ flowerhornsfrombeyond

That's a good idea thanks!
I would like to buy a juvi to watch it grow, plus they are so much cheaper.
But then again, when it is mature,I want one with nice color and a big KOK.
Decisions,decisions.......

there are a lot of 3-4" flowerhorns with loads of potential on aquabid for $50-99+ shipping. But the fry you get from Julie will be 1.5-2" and with my experience 70% of them have turned into amazing flowerhorns. If you're going to order 1 order 10 keep your favorites and sell the rest.

Looking on Julie's site, she has a few that are 3 and 4" that are between $90 and $130.And I look on Aquabid quite often and have seen them for about that too.
But getting 10 fry to grow out to keep the best one sounds like fun too!

Julie gets some good stuff but you can get better fish on aquabid for cheaper. She just doesn't stock a ton of big fish. Here fry always turn out great but if you're looking for something in particular that's not usually how it works with her it's always a crap shoot since you don't hand select your fish. If I were you I'd order 1 fish off of aquabid and some fry off of Julie. You're paying for the shipping either way right? Also.. The fish on aquabid are usually listed at least 20% over what they really want for them so don't forget to haggle with the sellers.
