I have a single strip 20W T10 bulb on top of a 20long I picked up, and have been wanting to turn it into a planted tank with some shrimp, guppies, maybe a red tail shark, and some bolivian rams (totally depends what I see at the LFS).
My question is: am I going to need to pick up a better bulb to have plants grow in there? Or what kind of plants would I be looking at if I were to not switch bulbs? I'm looking for something relatively easy to start, I can do fertilizers and stuff, but a CO2 setup is too much atm. Planted and floating would be cool, as I want to let the guppy fry swim freely, but they need cover in order to survive.
Open to suggestions.
