Hello as the title suggest would it be enough room to house a male and female jewel cichlid? I know they are aggressive so they would be alone except for some driftwood.

Crap, everyone knows they like to get it going, what would be the big problem,is it to small ,would they kill each other?

A 29 is plenty! But just two is more likely to end up as one, than a group of 4 or 6. Or, two with a few other fish.

What kind of other fish are you suggesting or just maybe 3 females to 2 males?I can't think of any other fish their size that will not be killed. Do you mean some kind of dither fish?

I have had two red jewels in a 20 gal. for a few months. They get along fine. Currently they are spawning every few weeks. I have a lot of fry.

I remove the fry after 10 days. The male and female swim together and start the egg laying process alll over again. So ... 29 gal. should be fine.

i had 8 jewels in a 38 gallon they were fine .. then i sold them
