No 2ft tanks isn't too small as you can get some smaller speices of african cichlids which will house a 2ft tank here's a few examples

Albino Kribensis size 4" female 3"
Obliquidens zebra size 4"
Dickfelds julie size 3"
Acei yellow size 4" female 3"

You can also try keeping a couple of tanganyikan shelldwellers.

That and also ram's they stay small, but yah Id agree Julies or Kribs are cool and so are shell dwellers any of those will do fine, but nothing really big. =)

Here are some Tanganyika's you could keep if you can get them. Juliedochromis "dickfeldi", "ornatus" or "transcriptus". Neolamrologus multifasciatus. Anomalochromis thomasi. Any of the Pelvicachromis species will also do. Malawi's to keep could be, Labidochromis caeruleus, Metriaclima livingstonii, Iodotropheus sprengerae or Melanochromis cyanerorhabdos sp maingano. These tend to be the more placid mbuna from Malalwi. I would suggest you create a good rock setup in the one corner, around 35-40% of the tank space, giving plenty of caves to swim into. I find that a sandy bottom works far better than gravel as this allows you to grow Vallisneria which is what I would do in most of the open area. If you are able to get the Met. livingstonii you will need a good shell for them. Enjoy. :naughty: :woot: :clap :headbang2  :mwave:

:iagree:

Get rams

I love these. They only live about two years

If optimum conditions are kept the Ram is easily breed

wish they grew MONSTER!!!!!!!

20 is fine for africans as long as you get the smaller fish. I agree that Juli's are great fish! I've had them and they're awesome. Altolamprologus are REALLY slow growing fish. It took mine like 3 years to get full size. And shelldwellers are great little fish.... Lamprologus brevis and caudopunctatus are really cool. Caudo's have red fins! I always put coral sand in my tang tanks cause it buffers the water the way they like it.

Ok guys great news, im now getting a 4ftx20x15 any ideas now?

I have given a reply as to the fish, Malawi's, I have. The posting regarding the stocking of a 60gal tank. The fish listed are in 3 tanks but have around 35 fih in two of the tanks. Keeps the aggression level to an absolute minimum. Have a two pic's posted as well of my pure wild caught tank. Cynotilapia afra lion's cove, male, is permanently in full colour. What a fish! If he would allow me to take apic I would post it. Mbuna's are great to keep. :naughty: :woot:  :clap :grinyes: :mwave:
