I currently have a 220g tank with a large sump and a xp4 canister for filtration. I do one weekly water change of 35%-40%. I am about to order 2 lima shovelnose catfish for the tank and the store also has 12-14inch fire eels for a cheap price that I was thinking about trying one of. I have always liked them and wanted to know if the will work with what I have.

Current stock list

Tiger Oscar 13in
Red Spotted Severum 6in
2X Urua 9in and 7in
2X Geo. Altifrons 6in
Clown Loach 6in
2X Heros Inirida 4in (I will only be keeping the best looking one when they grow out)
3X Heros Rotkeil 3in (I will only be keeping the best looking one when they grow out)
2X Lima Shovelnose 5in (will be ordering at the same time as the eel)

Would the eel work with this tank or would it be too hard to feed. The current fish all attack food like there is no tommorrow, so I would be worried about feeding it. The tank will be pretty full, so I don't really need the eel, I just thought it would be cool and it is a great price.

What do you think?

I have a mixed CA/SA tank with a large fire eel and it's getting tougher and tougher to feed him. He's very outgoing and will swim right to the top of the tank to take shrimp from my hand. The problem is that all the other fish get more aggressive feeding every day. If I drop the shrimp in they all grab it before the eel can get any. And if I hand feed him the others all attack my hand. Currently they're all under 8 inches but when they get larger (and grow teeth) it will be tough.
Maybe tongs would work...
Eels are definitely a cool fish to own though. I'd go for it.

My oscar wouldn't eat a fish if it swam in his mouth and decided to live there. For what ever reason she has just never had any interest in eating anything that swims. Pellets, beefheart cubes, and krill are a different story though.
