Recently one of my GSP's went nutz and started stalking tails. I had him in a small breeder box for a week and he was becoming seriously depressed. I found a lovely 28" small animal cage where he has room to move around, visit his tank mates through the bars, can feel the current, and he seems to enjoy it better than the plastic box. Its made of durable plastic and metal bars that are sealed and coated with another type of chew proof plastic.
I'm waiting for a reply from the manufacturer to find out if theres any chance of poison leaching into the tank.
Its been in there for several hours and im keeping an eye on any changes in activity and ready to go commando water change at the first sign of problems.
Has anyone ever tried this?

Looks like the cage scene in silence of the lambs!

My only concern would be the metal material possibly corroding and causing toxicity.

One of my lfs uses these all plastic critter boxes to house small aggressive specimens

Buy a hamster ball and put him in that so he can roam around the tank. Lol.

I would have the same concerns as xraycer, the metal may start to corrode in the tank. You could try to find a plastic version of this same type of cage or take the metal part and very thoroughly paint it whatever color you want, or clear coat it. That should make it pretty aquarium safe, as long as you don't plan on keeping it in there forever.

Hahaha. That made me laugh. Cute.

I agree, try to find a plastic version. Maybe you can also build one with a food safe container of some type.

He legitimately looks like he is in prison

All of our fish are in prisons if you think about it. Thing is, this fish is in a prison within a prison! Haha.

The metal is likely iron/mild steel. Meaning it will rust. Bot terrible, but over time in a large enough concentration could cause issues
