Just curious about this stunning looking fish, is it a hybrid? Pure? If hybrid, what is the mix?

yes it is a hybrid

red devil, and a texas. but its hard to get a tru red texas hybrid. i read you gotta breed the hybrids over n over til you get that super red texas everyone loves

aquascapeonline.com has them (supers) from time to time but WHOA! sooooo expensive, a spectacular looking fish.

Not sure the mix, not sure anybody does.I used to think it was a red devil and a texas. I think its a flowerhorn, texas and at least one other fish. Not sure.

I got mine from Aquascape. Back then they were $125. Now they're $225. I waited over a year before they got a batch in.....

Now he's 10", and for sale.

Yes people do know, it is texas and red devil. Sure it can be green or blue texas and red devil or midas but that is the mix. You could use a flowerhorn to do it but it isn't necessary or even helpful. It isn't just a straight cross though. You have to breed them back to eachother many times.

Actually if you want a quality red texas.

dont use a red devil, you want a deep red or orange Red Monkey like i am selling atm or a KKP or Mammon (Father) and a green texas (Mother). then inline breed the best quality daughter to the father and those frys will be awesome!
