I was at a FS and in a tank full of regular looking GT's. I saw one with a white stripe/trim on the tail/fin and remembered reading something about them being called "White Saums" and that a lot of people on MFK talked about them like they were a Jewel. It was being sold for $15 I believe.

Nor more rare then Gold Saums.

Actually they are substantially less common then gold saums in the aquarium trade. You see a ton more golds then you do whites. I wouldn't say that they are really more valuable though.

A lot of the "white/silver" saums sold in pet stores are actually gold saums who are stressed and lack the gold coloring in my experience. I own both a plain jane inbred gold saum and a 6" wild caught silver saum. My gold started out with silver markings but in a week or so with no stress and a good diet he colored up a beautiful gold color. I'm trying to find a wc silver female to breed with my big boy, but no luck so far.

Have never heard of that before. I have seen light yellow specimens turning orange/red but never heard of a white turning orange till now.
