i have heard of people using air conditioner filters for filters in there aquarium. Does anyone have experience using them or any opinion on this? I wouldlike to try try it but i dont know if theyhave any chemicals in them that can kill my fish
is ac filter a good fiter for tank?

ac filters = no
swamp cooler/evap coolers media = yes
ac prefilter media = yes
heres a link with some descriptions...
basicly fiberglass = no
polyester = yes
just make sure whatever you get is untreated IE no special fireproofing/mold killing type stuff.. you may want to test whatever you end up with in a tank that does NOT have your prize fish in it..
fyi some filters are pleated and its not all that different from pleated air filters.. but its not the same stuff.. i dont know whats different about it because i dont use them i just know they exist... the marineland magnum 350 for instance uses a pleated filter...
