is air pump required for a aro tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Optional. If your filter produces turbulence, you won't need the pump.

Im ganna have to go with.... "Every prize fish needs Air"

You can remove the air pump and still have air in the tank.
Example... my Canister is a RenaX4 and i took out the 90*elbow and have the water break the surface and it creates air bubbles. I also have 1.5" PVC (from my sump) that has a 90* elbow in the water for current but just under the watersurface, I popped a small hole in the side and it creates more air bubbles (the hole was meant for when I turn off the Pump, I wont get any back flow and the hole stops it). So I win 2 times with that lil hole:D

It also depends on the Temp of your Tank... the hotter it is, the thiner your air in the water is "That much more harder for the fish to breath"
So I always keep air in the tank, plus my tank ranges between 82*-88*

My aro unplugs the airstones espescially on one side of the tank. I think thats the side he sleeps on or, he does it so dry food doesn't spread out. By unplugging the air his food will stay in an area where he can gulp at it? IDK?
