So we know how well Sock filters polish water, some like them some don't but bottom line they are the best way to polish water with a sump.
I don't like old school wet dry filters cause there is very little mechanical filtration prior to the water hitting the bio.
I have an idea that I can't seem to find any one doing it online, but seems like it can work fine.
For one, when the sock is the first stage of mechanical filtration depending on your bio load the can get dirty fast.
Why not have sponges and/or filter wool as your first stage to collect all the larger waste, then socks your second stage to polish the real fine waste, on to wet dry bio or K1kaldness then to the return pump?
Bio that is dirty is redundant to me, I want my water polished before it hits my bio.
If I could post pics I would but I can't
Using Joeys (DIY king) method of pipes in the baffles makes it easy to achieve this method.
So if any one has this sump set up I would love to see it.
