I really like the look of white sand, but I'm not sure if Arowana poop will look really bad on it (along with Pleco poop). My Aro's tend to poop in one area of the tank too, so I'm pretty sure it'd look bad. Anyone with experience on this? Does the gravel vac work easily with sand, or does all the sand usually go into the tube?

Yep. Nope. Nope & nope. My 12" aro has 2" poops that are very noticable on sand. Good luck trying to vacuum sand. You are better off letting nature, good current and a jurupari or two take its course. I have everything you described and have no complaints.

i don't find cleaning poop off sand that hard. if you just skim the top with the gravel vac. you shouldnt suck up any sand...oh yeah and aro poop looks like crap on white sand.

I dont see why the poop would settle on the ground if you have a good amount of movement. My quiet one 6000 doesnt let anything settle on the ground. When its time to clean the pads I just see some poop on the sand, clean and bam nothing.

how do you have that good amount of movement that actually moves poop? my hob filter definitely does not push poop..... maybe it's because i have small rocks that are holding the poop down? does poop move more freely on sand?
