I am going heavy bait fishing next week, I plan on catching some spearring and some bunker. Is bunker safe for stingrays? i was thinking of just catching some myself saving them for my rays.

Flash freeze it 1st to kill any potential pathogens. Always freeze anything you collect yourself beforehand. You can try a salt-brine as it is defrosting to further the cause.

lol im actually gonna skip it. cause i just did some reseearch on it. i didnt realize how oily it's blood is. i dont want that much oil in my tank. i may use it to make pellets though. i might get my hands on a pellet mill.

Yup, it's a very very dark meat.....why do you think you never see it sold as anything except bait and it's NEVER sold live? Probably about as healthy as goldfish. only up-side is the bloody oil slick spreads the scent of food for a larger distance, hence why it is a good bait......drives the olfactory mad

Only baitfish that works better dead/cut instead of live IME

i mean bunker i would consider a pretty healthy fish. I just want to find ways to save money in this hobby. I spent so much money on their food. Tilapia, swai, and whatnot but all of these fish are like crap quality. i rather go out and catch my own fish with higher quality and feed them that! I am going out with some friends to catch spearing and silversides with cast nets. I'll freeze them and stock up on them. I have bought live bunker before. they had them freshly snagged at a bait shop i go to near my religious fishing spot lol. called the fisherman's den. They sometimes bring in fresh bunker.
i can not wait until striper season.

I have heard nothing but good things about feeding Silversides to captive fish.

If you like Stripers, you're in the right spot. We used to fish Indian River Inlet in southern Delaware for them.....a PA woman holds (held?) the state record at around 53lbs

I go out to get baitfish for my rays all the time. Peanut bunker, spearing, even small baby bluefish. They eat them all.

I would take a live bunker over a dead one any day...
