Whats a good canister filter?

i personally like power filters. they pump way more gph and they cheaper. but a canister has a big place for filter media. its all prefrence but if u have a 500g tank, between the two, GO WITH A CANISTER. but a sump is better for a bigger tank.

i have 29 gallons now, will upgrade to 75g. Water fall is prettier but canister filter maintenance is once every 3 to 6 months. which is better for beneficial bacteria?

that has a lot to do with what media you put in the canister. thing is, you can always throw bio media in a tank in a media bag and tuck it away somewhere out of sight. what are you planning on keeping? bioload has a lot to do with this question too

1 red terror, 1 green terror, 1 red texas, 1 parrot, (all around 1 inch juveniles)

if you keep cichlids, the popular method is overfiltration. you could get a couple aquaclear 110s and have the best of both worlds.

Start with the AC110 as you fish are still small. Add the canister later on down the road when your fish are bigger and the additional filtration is needed.

Sounds like Canister filters better, ok thx guys i've decided on canister, don't want to purchase anymore filters in the future.
I already have 2 filters, enough for small fishes.
