Ive read a few books that said cornsnakes are one of the easiest for a beginner, Can any one confirm this? Is Aztec cornsnake good? Im not saying I will get one and Im not saying I wont. Also what species of nonvenomous snakes are there in NM? Ive seen a 6 ft. bull snake near a lake, and 2 snakes that had a lot of orange and black from what I remember.

yeah, very good, usualy good eaters and the bites dont hurt, if its your first bite it wont shock you at much as lets say a boe or something. just make sure you tank is secure, mine always found a way out!

good luck!

I've read that they are one of the best begginer snakes, along with ball pythons, except they have more feeding issues.

Corn snakes are what I always recommend as a first snake. They have a nice large temp range and are very hardy. all they need is a hide spot, a basking area, and a water bowl. As with all snakes, they are escape artists so be sure to either get a sliding lid or a lid with clamps. They are very mild mannered and generally will not bite and if they do, you will hardly feel it.

Let us know if you get it.

I agree...Cali kings are also good IMO.
