is feeding live fish bad?

i'm breeding some convicts for the oscars, catfish, bass, and bluegills, is that bad? or no. i've heard feeders are bad, but i'm guessing because of the crowded tanks that they live in. thoughts?

If they are home bred, quarantined, and healthy its not that bad. I'd rather do pellets and frozen foods

yea but they like their share of live too. they are on cichlid pellets, and frozen bluegill that i catch
