Is fish keeping....nerdy?

trying to see myself from the view of someone who has no idea or interest in fish keeping.
i know fish keepers come from all walks of life but when it comes down to it don't you think it's kinda nerdy how "addicted" we can become to the hobby? just saying

I don't think its really nerdy. All my friends, none of which keep fish, thinks its pretty cool, especially when I talk about big fish and 200+ gallon aquariums.
