I have been contemplating ditching the HOB and canister combo (penguin 350 and fluval 405) in exchange for an FX5. Is this enough filtration for a 125 gallon that may be well stocked? My reasoning is to reduce surface irritation to enable more CO2 for plants. However, my concern is then adequate oxygenation. What should I do?

do you have another tank for your 405 to go on?? thats a nice filter.... if not then imo its a waste of money

I might be selling it and using the money towards the FX5. I really like the idea of the FX5, but I need to know if that's enough. Lol

it is deffinately enough. i have one on my 125 and my water is perfect. it is a native tank with two of the 7 fish in there a foot or so long and one coming up on it quick. it is a great filter you wont be dissapointed.

Awesome. I'm planning to do natives. I see you have air stones running. Does the agitation from the fx5 suffice for oxygen requirements of the fish?

it does i just put some in there just for good measure. the hoses that come off the thing are 1in. it moves some water. easily like running a garden hose in the tank

it has a dual nozzle diffuser on it so i have one pointed into the tank and the other pointed up enough to cause some surface agitation to aid that gas exchange.
