Hello diy heads i have been reading a bunch of threads on here in regard to GE silicone and i get that in needs to be GE type 1 window and door not bath and tile or anything with mildow bio seal or cortrol agents and needs to be GE silicone window and door 100 % silicone my simple quistion here is simply. What does it say on the container does it actually say GE silicone sealant or is that a abriviation or kind of silicone not the brand. Just so i'm clear i live in a small town on cape cod the closet thing to me is a home depot there's not lowes no other carpentry of supplie stores not even a wallwart or k mart the only place i can go to get this is a home depot. I saw on previous threads that i can get this kind there that is why i was asking. Thanks for you'r time i have found 10.3 ounce tubes of aquarium stuff online for 14 bucks a tube but don't wanta pay that much. Also i am using this to reaseal the inside of a 240 glass 8'2'2 tank how much do you think that i will need to do this. i am not taking it apart just reasealing the inside because i am fixing my tank as i have supplied a pic to this thread. THe green in the picture is the bottom of my tank from the top view with inside barcing on the bottom of the inside of the tank the blue are new brace that will be siliconed in to place and the red is a 16 x 16 square sheet of glass that will be going on top siliconed in place how much silicone do you think i will need to reaseale the inside of the tank and to silicon theses pieces in to place thatnks in advance for all of you'r help i trully do appreciate it.

Alot of people will tell you it is okay, but to me if it says "not for use in aquariums" on the tube, I wouldn't use it. If I have to spend a few extra bucks for my fish to be safe then so be it.

to be perfectly honest another reason that i can't order it online is because i don't have a credit card and i just moved to where i live so i haven't open a new bank account here so i can not order my silicone onlie hence another reason i am trying to buy it locally some where else and the only local fish store near me selfs it for 22 dollars a tube and there is no damn way i'm paying that price

GE is the brand name. Get a couple tubes to make sure you have enough. Keep in mind silicone won't stick to silicone. You'll have to scrape off any old silicone with a razor blade, then apply new. GE Silicone I , 100% Silicone Rubber Sealant, Clear. Window & Door. This is the exact wording on the tube. This stuff comes in the tube with the blue label, is completely safe after curing, and can be picked up at almost any hardware store. I've used it several times.
