I have a polyterus senegalus that is about 11" and he doesnt seem to be getting any bigger. Do they get much bigger, or do they just slow down in growth dramatically at a certain size?

PS. i dont know the sex, ive always called it a boy, so if im wrong feel free to tell me

They max out around a foot so I would say it's probably done growing. It looks like a female and the one behind it is a male. You can tell by the size of the anal fin. Males have wider/thicker anal fins than females.

I agree that it's a female, based on anal fin. She might stretch out another inch over time, but she could have maxed at 11" as well.

As long as she lives, she'll grow. It might not be noticeable, but if you measure on a yearly basis at this point, you would see a change. But yeah, she's probably slowed down.

Will stop growing for the most part. What kind of gravel or sand are you using? Want to know because mine is 7" and almost looks like a platinum and since yours is longer did she change color to the olive color. Or would mine stay the way he is now if he is continual kept on white sand?

i keep her and the little male, i call the worm,in with natural colored gravel. Im a bit of a naturalist, i think it brings out all the fishes colors out better. As far as i can remember she hasnt changes colors, but shes about 5 years old so i dont remember exactly if she changed colors.
