He got attacked by a 3" piranha and this hole in the side of him is pretty deep from what I can tell. I know these fish are pretty strong and pull through a lot. But I am just concerned that it hurt his intestins (sp) Anyone have any input or advice. I am treating with melafix by the way

That should be ok just add a bit Salt into the tank

he should be fine as long as it didnt make it into his internals my tsn broke half of his pectoral fin off and it grew back bone and all

One of the pictus cat's at our store got both of his sides eaten out by a small jag (the pictus slipped through the divider) and we managed to save him although both sides were showing the rib cage already. We added some salt and nicked named it sashimi fish and surprisingly it survived. So your cat having a minor bite like that is nothing. Salt with some good filtering will make a hasty recovery. Just keep any live foods away for a while.
