so this is the first aro ive had, it a silver whether it matters or not... but anyway he roughly 7 or 8" he will eat talapia no sweat, but guy at store thats old him to me said they fed them all pellets, i tried pellets he didnt want them so i didnt feed him for about a week, and tossed a tetra carnivore stick and 2 4.5mm NLS floating pellets he chewed one up and spit it out... and then chewed up the smaller peices and spit it out lol.... is he just trying to fool me to give into talapia for him and being picky ? like should i continue to hold out until he eats the pellets ? or what do you guys suggest ?

See in time he will get used to eat he spits it out cause he has liked the tilapia taste...He eats it that is a good sign even though he spits it out as that means he is recognizes the food.Just Starve him for 3 days then drop the food(break the sticks into smaller pieces .Still no Luck then don't feed for another 3 days still no luck then the next day feed tilapia to get food in his system. and then let me/us know

so i should hold out for 3 more days and if nothing 3 more days then if nothing some talapia then ? i dont want him to think he has control over me for his food ya know lol ... very similar to my oscar one time...well the NLS food are small 4.5mm pellets like smaller then a pencil eraser, the tetra carnivore sticks tho are about 1/2" long 5mm thick, those i can break in half usually he nipped at those but that was about it so i guess i'll post back in 3 days then

If u wanna get more technical, something I used to get my really stubborn peacock bass from tilapia to pellets was, get a small piece of ur tilapia and mash/chop/mince it as best u can, add a little purified water just to make it a little watery, and soak the pellets in the tilapia infused water. That way once he takes a pellet, he recognises a fimilair taste. Do that now and don't budge for 3 more days. If he doesn't take it then, give him a piece of tilapia, not too much and start the starving again. Eventually hell take it. Then give him the soaked pellets for a week or 2 then try just adding the reg pellets.
