okay. another question if you dont mind.
if he is a male, which i have been led to believe, why is there no black spot behind his eye. probably just bad breeding?

theres no pink belly. However, I'm pretty sure the pink belly only becomes visible during mating time. no?

No. It's always visible. During mating, though, it becomes an almost hot pink, and females can take on an almost purplish sheen in the right lighting.

Also, look at the spot on their side - the females is rimmed in blue speckles.

yeah the black spot on my female was shimmered... but my male has no black spot... he is supposed to have a darker one that you can't see the shimmer through

Id say without a doubt Male. Ive had a pair myself and the female always has pinkish/purplish belly. If it was female u would kno

Sometimes blue rams don't show the black spots. This could be due to stress or bad genetics. I have a few large males here at my house who have no black markings whatsoever, but still have the other normal coloration.

I wouldn't go by the spots for sexing. I'd go by the pink belly and shorter/fatter body shape on the females.
