Singapore
Hi, I live in Singapore which is very humid, warm, a very tropical climate, and i was wondering if i need a heater for my tank, i sometimes turn my a/c on so yeah.... my fish are some cichlids and im going to get a ornate bichir.

btw the temperature without a/c is usually 29-40 degrees celsius, and the coldest ever is like 25 degrees, but a/c is quite weak so yeah....

I doubt it, the lights and pumps and other equipment should provide enough heat to warm the water if needed. Just put a thermometer on the tank and check it from time to time.

my brother lives in dubai and has a chiller on his reef!!!!!
would be more worried about overheating than a slight chill

lol at the chiller, but dubai is like a lot drier and hotter than singapore which is really humid, and i have aircon, so would this balance things out? or should i just leave the tank for a while with no fish to just checkout the temperature?

I live in Florida an the room my 20L is in has almost no AC going to it and the heater is off about 85-90% of the time.

I have it set at 80oF... I'd still keep it in the tank even if i never saw it on however.

I would go for the heater, it keeps a stable temperature and just in case it does get cold one day you dont have to worry

heaters would be sorta like asurance that your tank stays at the desiered temp but the water in the tank will be close to the temperature of surounding air, so if it stays at a constant temp your fish can tolerate, i dont think a heater is needed

thats the problem the temperate nowhere is stable. what if it storms? that cools stuff down. ie never heard of a place where the temperature is so stable that you couldnt benafit from a heater.
