Is it a bad idea?

To buy both fish that you want to breed from the same supplier (Rapps)? I am planning on purchasing 2 Parachromis Motaguense or Friedrichsthalli from him to breed other than calling him to ask, have any here had success doing this?

good question, and I've given this some thought myself . . . if I were going to start any sort of breeding program, I think I'd try to get the male and female from different sources . . . should give me a better chance of avoiding in-breeding, as it should decrease the chance of getting brother-sister pairings ...

yea i agree i would buy from diffrent sorces if pits possible if you live close to mass i have plenty of them

I agree, buy from different breeders. Get one from rapps and other from a different supplier.

Thanks for the impute so is their any good fish suppliers other than Rapps & Davis? I need fish around the 3-4 inch mark.

I always try and get both my breeders from different sources, safer that way
