I bought a blue acara a couple of months ago and was at the LFS about 2 weeks ago and they had brought in 4 more (The one I got originally was the only one they had at the time) so I grabbed the 2 healthy looking ones and brought them home, after a week in the QT tank I introduced them to the tank with my other Acara.
Now after a week in their new tank they no longer look all that much alike. My fist one and one of the new ones are identical but the 3rd is slowly changing for lack of a better term.
The Acara's both have a nice blue colouring to the fins and vertical baring running the length of there bodies with the dorsal fin having an orange/yellow trim to it, The odd ball as I call him very seldom shows the vertical barring of the other 2 but almost always has a horizontal bar from the eye to the tail, he also doesn't seem as rounded as the other 2, he has the trim to the dorsal fin but a much bolder orange colour, and every day he seems to get a little more of what looks to be the same orange colouring as his dorsal fin on his caudal fin and does not have as much of a blue shade in his fins as the other 2. He is the smallest of the 3 at just about 1 1/2 -2 inch without the tail (2- 2 1/2 inch with tail) but is by far the more aggressive of the 3.
I will try to get some good pics of the tail but it's still very faint and I'm not sure if my camera is good enough to catch it.
Any way this brings me back to the topic title, do i have 3 acara or does it sound like 2 acara and one GT. And aside from the caudal fin is their any other signs I should look for?
Thanks.

Sorry about the horrible pics

Acaras
If you look you'll see that they have no oranges on the tail, just the dorsal. Also the overall shape and line thru the eye gives it away.

But thats the thing, like I said my camara suck but the one in question does have the orange on the tail it's faint but as I said it gets a little more colour everyday are GT's born with the orange on the tail or do they grow into it?. Also how do the body shapes and the line in the eye work? I have no Idea how to tell the diffrence at a small size.

juvie saums still have a noticeable saum, thought it can look like a white saum sometimes, but they still have saums.
