Thanks again Simon... I tried my best to take some more photos and this one I guess shows that vent area with a small thing sticking out...It will be very difficult to tell with this hybrid. This hybrid is later to mature and the vent from a female will not fully extend until she is ready to lay eggs. A closeup shot of the vent may be a little more help but I would still only be guessing.
A males tube is small, thin and usually downward pointing. A females is much thicker and longer and can be very angled but not always.
There are behavioral techniques you may be able to use but it's more complicated and you will have to be able to read the fishes body language.

So its a kamfa? Thanks mate for this information...Nice Kamfa! I see a black dorsal spot so I'm leaning towards female.

Hi Simon... thanks for all your infos... I really appreciate them all.... I will post more pictures of this guy in the future.... cheers!!!The tube is not out enough to see. Your fish is very high quality if I haven't said it already. Usually hybrids are very unstable and only a small percentage of the offspring are high quality.
Your fish has a great body, nice wrapped fins and an even mouth, all these traits are easy to get in Kamfa type hybrids but what makes your fish special are the thick pearls in the head area. Pearls in the head area is a great thing but thick pearls is even more coveted. Please keep us updated on this fish.
