Hi all, just wondering if it is a must to have sand or bare bottom tanks for motoros? Is small pebble stones ok for them? Do they need alot of open floor space? Trying to do a bit of research:) Thanks in advance guys.

Bare/Sand/Small gravel - all three work.

The more open space the happier they're likely to be but you can have stuff in the tank to make things more interesting for you and them, it doesn't need to be completely clinical.

Motoro will need good floor space aim for 3 foot or 4 foot wide if u can . As for what u add is up to u as long as its not sharp and will harm the rays underside .

My 8 inch motoro has 10 feet of round space for it to swim around. I keep the pond bare, it utilizes only 30% of the area as "hers". I feed all the rest of the fish on the "other" side so that she gets to eat in piece and not get bullied into literally coughing up her food to the big bullies.
