Is it bad to use AmQuel with a planted tank?

As the title says... This is my first attempt at a planted tank and i was wondering if amquel would be bad for it? I also want to put some neons or something in there. It is going to be a 10 gallon tank with floramax as the substrate. Don't know what to do as far as lighting yet as im still researching before i start this thing.
