i know that senegals can be territorial, however he is in a 20 by himself right now and he only seems to relieve himself in one corner. i could gravel vac the entire tank and only this one corner would have anything to pic up, is that a common trait? i guess the saying don't poo where you eat doesn't translate into the senegal world!

It may be stressed. Does it ever leave the corner? How long has it been in this tank? And what are the params? Polys are pretty lazy, and spend most of their time just relaxing, but it should move around periodically through the day. Senegals are also usually on the more active side when it comes to bichirs.

oh no he is very active. it just seems like he'll take a lap go back to the corner, take a lap go bak to the corner.

yeah my sens are very active and swim all over the tank but they all seem to have their own favorite places to chill when they just want to relax, cant answer about the poo though as i have my sens with other fish in a 5ft 120g so no telling whos poo is whos LOL

Ive noticed things like that before with my Sens and other fish. There were certain areas of my Oscar tank that would be awful while other areas were spotless.
