I have heard the various diff things people feed there oscars. Someone said they feed their oscars mollies? is this o.k? i have mollies, plattiesand other comm fish I bought before i realized i wanted to go aggressive! My lfs may take them, but they emphasize on saltwater, so maybee not. any sugg?

yeah, mollies are better for the oscars too, because they are a more natural diet.

Agreed..

More natural and less risk of disease with Mollies vs. Gold fish or Rosy reds :)

DO keep some pellets both meaty and vegi as well...

I wouldn't really worry how fast it is.. With an O it will be fast if it fits. IF not... Then it will be made to size, which is also perfectly natural.

I don't think it's unethical it's just the way things work. "Big fish eat lil fish"....

i have pellets beef heart blood worms freeze dried mysis flake...ect i would like to clear room for a real fish and is it ethical to use my o's to dispose (punn definantly intended) the mollies are kind of big what about platties.... a whole community really. When i first started i would never have thought such a thing, however like stated above goldfish from petsmart are no offense poor at best! They dont even remove the dead come on even an idiot with no thumbs would fish out a dead if you gave a damn. and im growing with my hobby with much research. That is how i found this site at first i was a hater because i was misinformed like most.....Then i saw the light. I want big fish in big tanks! How about barbs will they eat those guys??

i have kids...... should they ever see fish (aggression) eating live fish they are 3 and 4? to me i always wait till they nap.

just stick him in the tank what ever lives is too BA to get rid of.

Why would it be unethical? We eat other mammals without any ethical qualms. Oscars and mollies are different species within the same taxonomic class (Pisces -- Fishes). By the same token, humans and cows are different species within the same taxonomic class (Mammalia -- Mammals).

It depend on what your view is. If you don't like the idea, just feed the Oscars pellets.

Why get into the ethnical debate anyway? People have different views and as long it is not harming anyone or any creature, then who cares?
