found a disassembled 450 gallon glass tank. 8' x 2.5' x 3'. 5/8" thick glass. no holes drilled and unsure if it's tempered. Around $800. Is it worth getting someone to put it back together? More of an acrylic fan due to lighter weight, but this does seem like a good deal?

That's very thin glass for that height unless it's tempered. Might not have been designed for fish would be my thought.

If it's not tempered, you're going to have a restriction to between 27-31 inches on the water level, unless you spend a lot of time doing excessive bracing. (Not sure if that will work.)

That's what I also saw. Since it's apart I guess it could be re glued to be 3' wide and 2.5 tall? Would probably need to buy another piece of glass. And also needs stand, so probably this will end up costing quite a lot to get up and running?

For me no.

As indicated elsewhere on the site, most people find aquariums that hild water for $1/g. With that in mind I would say if ypu could get this project glass for $100-$200 then yeah, try it.

IMO the seller will be stuff with the glass. Time is on your side for negotiation. I would start with "i will dispose of it for free for you" and go from there......:D

Hello; No it does not. On top of the already mentioned things let me add that a tempered glass panel cannot be drilled nor cut. It must be used as is.
Yes I understand that. He said he's not sure if glass is tempered or not. If the bottom piece is it would add quite a bit to the total cost.
