I had a fish to euthanize and fed it to my freshwater fish. Is it harmful to feed a saltwater to freshwater fish?

I can feed tuna/mackerel/sardines to my goldfish just fine. What SW fish are you trying to feed? What health issue did it have prior to its death?

It was a yellow tail damsel and that swimming funny so I put him into the freshwater tank.

I am not sure I would feed that to your fish without knowing the exact issue. Why not just dispose it straight away?

Disposing it would probably be the right thing to do but I need a cheap thrill.:D Maybe next time I will make the right decision.;)

i hope you're kidding...euthanizing fish is never supposed to be pleasant.

From what I hear some saltwater fish are poisonous. I guess as long as that isn't a factor I don't see why you couldn't feed a saltwater fish to freshwater fish.

i would say its bad unless it was healthy, and depends on method of euthanization.

feeding sick animals to healthy animals is a bad idea. thats why downer animals arent in the feed to humans
