I've had my pike since New Year's day @ 2". Now she's 8". I believe it's a girl cause of the pink belly and spotted dorsal fin. Anyways she was never shy and ate hearty everytime. For the last month, all she does is hide when I'm around. Won't eat unless I leave the room. Only change that I made to the tank was remove some of her tank mates(Africans) and 2 irwinni catfish that outgrew the tank. Does your pikes hide all the time? Or is it just mine?

My belly crawler was really active until he hit about 6-7 months old. After that, all he did was hide and ambush my jack Dempsey.

I wanted to add another pike as well, they had some sveni for cheap at the wetspot last time I was there, but everyone tells me it's a bad idea because pikes generally don't like each other, and mine is pretty mean so I didn't take the chance. However I did add a Freddy to the tank and the pike could care less about him!

I have a female sveni, unsexed WC vittata, and WC male minuano (5"-6" or so) all in a 135. All are fine, minuano has been challenging vittata, but none really hide often. Especially not when I am around as I=food.

Did you raise them all together when they were small?

My LFS has a really nice 12" lent that I've been eyeing. My female geyai is aggressive only towards the buttikoferi and the synodontis eupterus.

I noticed something today, my kids like to have my dovii pair chase their fingers from one side of the tank to the other, well my daughter move to the other tank to have the Freddy beg for food and the pike is right up front with him face to face with my daughter. I move in to take a video and off he goes into his hide.
