You look over at your tank and your pleco looks like a rather large plunger stuck to the side of you tank. :WHOA:

You scratch your head and wonder how the heck it got that big since the last time you saw it.

I mean my common does not look like the small pleco that stuck to the side of the tank here and there. He has went through huge growth spurt and man does he have a mouth on him LOL

Crazy, I think it is because I don't see him that often. I do notice the bigger he is getting the more he is coming out in the light. My daughter says "MOM! Something is wrong with Suck-A-Lux!!!! He is acting funny!" I ask why "He is out so much and he never comes out!"

Now if I could say the same about my L007, he is James Bond, and not the center of attention. The most I see of him is his tail sticking out here and there.

yeh i totally know wat u mean eventhough plecs kinda freak me out. i threw a couple in my pond a few years ago and one day they emerged at over 2 feet in length each! i was like :o i guess thats wat happens when they have unlimited algae to consume. scary. they also have these spikes coming out the sides. my grandma thinks they are associated with the devil.

I doubt he grew 2ft solely on algae. Probably ate other fish food.

These are commonly reffered to as stabbers. Like a protective mechanism for plecs. When threatend or out of water, they erect them. And if you happen to get caught on one of these, chances are it will make you bleed.

Suck-A-Lux?

I agree :) .

On another fish forum i am a member of, a while back i read a story of this guy there who was trying to move his pleco when he got stabbed by it, he got a very nasty infection in his wound which he ended up having to take antibiotics for  .

i have clown plecos in my tanks that havent grown in the past 3 years but the albino common outside went from 2-8 inches in about 2 months
