ok the black strip around the bottom of MOST tanks... is that any sort of support deal or what? and also. i plan on using cinder blocks for a stand for my 220 after i reseal it... and the black strip around the bottom is sticks down further then the bottom glass pane. so should i put the cinder blocks on the black thing or on the glass just inside the black strip? cause if i can take that off then im going to lol

Well if noone answers the ? Then ill take one off a 30 i have just to test and i let u know of it explodes or not :D

Hello; Not sure what you are thinking of, but sounds like you are considering removing the plastic base from the tank. I have never tried this and have always considered it the proper thing to rest on a stand.

I do not think that putting glass directly on cinder blocks is a good idea at all.
However if you do try it, please take and post some before and after pictures if you have the camera to do so. It is always of interest to find out what happens when some new way of doing things is attempted.

The black trim on the bottom of the tank helps distribute the weight of the tank and helps to prevent chipping if you happen to put the aquarium on a rough surface and shift it back and forth. It's different when you have an acrylic aquarium which needs the entire bottom supported. Remember that the edges of the glass would be the thickest part of a pane of glass.

Its not going directly on the cinder blocks ima put a rectangle i guess u could say "insert" the size of the block on top n the glass will fit on that.... But idk how that black rim on the bottom outside would distribute wieght.... Not sayong your wrong or anythongbut dont quite uderstand how that works.... Best not to try it tho i was jw

Custom tanks don't have them but they're also put there by design. I would say that it's more important to make sure that your stand is straight, sturdy, and level. Make sure that your tank is level. I think aquariums look better with them on imo. Aloha.

Hello; This post is difficult to follow, sorry.

The tank was designed to sit on the frame.
