So I have had my little Neptune for 3 days since I rescued him from a pet store. In the moment I have him in a community 29 gallon tank with 4 other fishes, platy, molly, danio, honey gourami. Thankfully they all get along. I have yet to see Neptune flare at them.
I have been noticing that at night he lays on the bottom of my tank sand. Is that normal? I have never had betta fish before so before I go to sleep I go wish him a goodnight (I know I’m weird lol) and I see him laying there thinking he’s dead lol.

PS- He will not be staying in the community tank permanently. I am cycling some sponge filters for a 20 gallon long divided betta tank where he is gonna have his own 5 gallon space

Seems pretty normal. Mine have always lied motionless when sleeping. I’d recommend some sort of plant with large leaves, they really like to use them like a hammock.
