Hello all,

I've had my hystrix pup for about a month now. He is about 6 to 7 inches in size and is with discus and altums. He eats everyday and loves worms. However, he isn't very active, spending much of his time just hanging out partially buried.

My water temp is 82. PH is 6.8. Tank is a 225 6x2 footprint tank. Water params check out fine.

Is it normal for it to just hang out? He doesn't swim around much.

The 3 I recently got behave similarly. Mostly just hanging out until food is involved or o e of the bigger males pushes them around. My guess is that they just aren't completely comfortable and settled yet.

All mine are the Sisters for my Misters lol 3 hystrix girls and a henli X BD male and a mini marble male.
Care to sell a female? I could use a hunnie for my male pup.

I think more friends makes them more confident. Also if you like feed worms constantly they never feel the need to search for food.

Just bought a mini ice cube tray to start making frozen tilipia and shrimp cubes.

It may just be the way he is. My big female is always out and about; the male is usually under the drift wood; the smaller female usually is partially buried in one spot at the end of the tank.

They may be still adjusting. The larger rays might be intimidating.

I kept them separate for the first week for them to settle in a bit and make sure that they were eating good, actually they have been more active with the boys venturing about more often. The pups actually take pellets better than the BDxHenli lol
