ok so i went to oshes and in the garden department they sell worms idk what kind but i was wondering if that was ok

should be fine I would just ask about fertilizers or pesticides first thou makes sure your fish aren't belly up after feeding.

I'm more worried about pesticides.

Even if they are free from them, I recommand you feed them apples for about 3-4 days to get rid of the soil in their body.
Also act as a means of transferring the vitamins in apple to the bichirs

good idea ill do that you think if i dusted the apple with calcium it would be good for the polys

I raise my own worms in a bin just to have an available live food supply year round. I just got some red wrigglers since my fishes are all small. Easiest food culture I know and most useful! So you can go to a bait shop if you don't necessarily trust the garden supply store but I would think they would be safe as they probably get their worms from the same place as the bait shops!

i get earthworms from garden/bait stores occaisonally and everyone loves them, especially my bichir. if you can make sure they're raised in an organic compost then you shouldn't have to worry about pesticides or ferts- i throw the worms in from my local garden store with no worries&great results. i give them fresh soil/compost&changing their diet before feeding them to my fish as well~
